Covid-19 Update

Dear Friend,

We hope you and your loved ones are well and in good health. Our community has been through a lot lately. While we have all had to make many changes personally, one thing that has not: Our commitment to your health and safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority of our practice and you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it is both safe and comfortable.  We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep our patients and team safe.

Our office has always followed the infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up to date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations. These measures hep prevent the spread of contagious diseases such as tuberculosis and measles, and they are equally effective in preventing the spread of influenza and the coronavirus.

We wanted to let you know of the steps we are taking to keep all the members of our Ashland community safe:

Team Members Health Screening

ALL team members, including doctors will be tested for COVID-19 before they can return to work, and will only be allowed to return with a negative result. All team members and doctors will be screened daily before they begin working. They will have their temperature taken and must answer a series of questions. They must also be free of any symptoms of illness. These results are documented. We will strictly enforce a no illness policy. Anyone showing signs of illness will be sent home and not allowed to return until cleared by a physician.

Patient Health Screening

For the safety of our Ashland team and other patients we request that any patient that has traveled in the last 14 days of their scheduled appointment or is experiencing any flu like symptoms or has been in contact with anyone that has, please reschedule your appointment. All patients will be asked a series of questions when making their appointment and given instructions of what to expect for their next visit. We ask that you call the office once you arrive in the parking lot to check in. To keep with social distancing guidelines, we can no longer have anyone wait in the reception area. Once we are ready for you, you will receive a call or text to come in. Once in the office you will have hand sanitizer dispensed for use, you will answer a series of questions and your temperature will be taken. Once in the treatment room you will be given an oral rinse to reduce the number of germs and viruses in your mouth.

Sterilization Protocols

We will continue to follow our strict surface sterilization procedures of disinfecting all operatory surfaces between patients and, after each use, all dental instruments are cleaned, and heat sterilized in individual pouches. All treatment rooms will completely be sterilized with UVC lights, like the ones used by hospitals to sterilize operating rooms. Our team will be using Personal Protective Equipment (ppe) when treating you. This includes gowns or long sleeve coats, protective eye wear, face shields, N95 or KN95 masks and gloves to ensure that no body fluids can be passed between patient and provider.

Common Area Disinfection

As a result of the coronavirus concern, we have taken additional precautions in our common area. All magazines and pamphlets have been removed. All surfaces that a patient contact will be disinfected immediately and will continue to be every 30 minutes. All common areas will be treated daily with UVC lights to kill pathogens on all surfaces.

We are looking forward to seeing you all soon and we are happy to answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to call us at 708-755-1333.

Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust in us and look forward to welcoming you back!

Sincerely,

The Ashland Dental and Wellness Team
